Technique

ASSIGNMENT:

 Complete and turn in for grade a water color practice with four different examples of washes.

 1.      smooth solid color wash
 2.      wet on wet – same color ranging light to dark or dark to light
 3.      wet on wet – different colors
 4.      any wash technique with dry brush designs added

NOTES:

Water color is a beautiful medium but it's also the most difficult to work with. If you make a mistake with tempera paint, what can you do to fix your mistake? Paint over it. You an do this because tempera paint is opaque. If you make a mistake while using water color, you can NOT paint or cover it over. Transparency is the reason water color painting is beautiful; the transparent colors sparkle. Transparency is also the reason it is so difficult to work with.
