Lessons Create a value scale with a range of five.
1. Use ruler to draw a row of five adjoining 1 inch squares.
2. Begin with first square and fill it in with very light pencil value - use light pressure.
3. Fill in next square with the same light pencil value. Fill in a second layer to make it slightly darker.
4. Fill in every square with a darker range of value. The last square should be very black.
