LATIN AMERICAN TRAVEL POSTER

You may work with a partner only in the research phase of this assignment. Each student must design his own travel poster about his selected country. Use the images and information you gathered from your research.

Assignment 1:

Select a country in South or Central America that you would like to know more about.

Use the questions below to learn about your country.

• What do the people of your country look like?
• What animals are found in your country? Are any unusual?
• What birds, reptiles. fish are found in your country?
• What do the people wear? Do they have a national dress?
• What do the houses look like?
• What is the terrain – mountains, water, desert, forrest …
• What plant life, flowers and trees are in the country?
• What is the country’s language?
• Do the people have music or dance that is special to their country?
• List several places a visitor to the country would want to visit and see.

Assignment 2:

Design a travel poster for your country.

Steps:

1. Select an image that you think best represents your country or describes something special about thje country. (examples: shoreline, rain forest, dance or music, scenery, unusual animal/bird/…, special costume or dress, special event, historical, special holiday, place.
2. Lightly draw the image in the center of the paper…large, fill the space.
3. Use water color wash and blending to add the base colors.
4. Use markers and colored pencils to add details to the image.
5. Neatly cut large name of the country from colored construction paper.
6. Plan the best place for the name of the country and glue down.

Image(s) – well planned
