Gothic Letters

ASSIGNMENT 1:

 Use pen and ink to print a truism in Gothic lettering.

 GRADE 1 :
 Horizontal and vertical strokes
 Spacing
 Craftsmanship

ASSIGNMENT 2:

 Write a short story that uses the meaning of your truism. Use your truism as the title. Use your best grammar and spelling.

 GRADE 2 :
 Spelling and grammar
 Story expresses the meaning of truism

ASSIGNMENT 3 : Folk art paper piercing lesson

 Paper pierce a design around edge of colored paper on which to mount the truism.

 GRADE 3 :
 uniform piercing
 design

NOTES:

Lettering can be segregated into 4 basic groups.

 GOTHIC: all letters are composed of uniform widths
 ROMAN:  all letters composed of thick & thin lines
 TEXT:   includes all styles similar to old English text.
 SCRIPT: has the look of handwriting.

NOTES:

  1. Turn in best practice sheet
  2. Record selected truism with teacher
  3. Practice truism on notebook paper. Turn in these sheets.
  4. Make guidelines template
  5. paper clip white paper over your template
  6. Leave large margin around edge of paper
  7. Letter your truism
