Paper Piercing

ASSIGNMENT:

Create a border by using the folk art of paper piercing.

STEPS:

1. Use ruler to draw three borders around edge of paper. Leave space in center for art work or stenciling later.
2. Use border guidelines to draw border design on back of paper. Use magazine as padding to pierce holes along pencil lines design. Work on the back where the penciled design is and use a biology pin or needle. (reverse pierced words)

 Craftsmanship

NOTES:

Folk Art - Art made by people who have had little or no formal schooling in art. Folk artists usually make works of art with traditional techniques and content, in styles handed down through many generations, and often of a particular region. Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, metalwork, costume, tools, and other everyday objects all may be folk art.

The next lesson could be to stencil a design in the center front of the paper. Stenciling can also be considered a folk art by many.
