Colored Pencil

Technique

ASSIGNMENT 1 :

Create a colored pencil value scale with a range of light to dark.

GRADING:

Pencil surface smooth
Blends well from light to dark- blended transitions
Very dark value to very light value

 

ASSIGNMENT 2 :

 Practice, complete and turn in for grading the following colored pencil exercises:

1. pencil pressure 0-5
2. layering 2 colors; layering 1 color
3. shading 1 color graduated
4. burnishing 1 color; burnishing 2 colors
5. scrumbling 1 color graduated; scrumbling 2 colors graduated
6. hatching 1 color; 2 colors; edge
7. crosshatching 1 color; 2 colors; edge

GRADING: (7 grades)

NOTES:

 1.      Lightly stroke the surface of the paper with the pencil.
 2.      Change directions often so colored areas appear solid instead of streaky.
 3.      Build up layer upon layer of thinly applied pencil.
